Note: The Student Supply Fee is the estimated cost that a student will spend to purchase their own necessary supplies for the class for the year. The Teacher Supply Fee is the cost of supplies that the teacher will provide for the student generally at the beginning of the year.
A fun way for young students to get acquainted with a variety of art supplies. Students will create projects to take home. Students will supply their own smock.
Beginning Drawing & Painting -Mrs. Michaels CLASS FULL
A fun class for those who love to draw and paint! Students will learn techniques that will improve their skills dramatically in drawing and watercolor painting. A supply list will be available at orientation. Supplies for entire year will not exceed $20.
This class is for students who have completed Beginning Drawing & Painting. Students will be building on skills learned in Beginning Drawing & Painting Class. The painting portion of this class will include painting with acrylic paint on canvas. Supply list will be available at orientation. Supplies for the entire year will include some of the supplies used in Beginning Drawing & Painting, and will not exceed $20.00.
Drawing Adventure - Mrs. Michaels

This class will start out covering the basics of drawing, but then take students through a unit on cartooning, where they will not only practice drawing some popular characters, but design their own comic strip. They will also have a unit on lettering, where they will learn some fun fonts, and do some creative projects with words. There will be no painting in this class. The only medium used will be pencill, colored pencils, & markers. Supply list will be available at orientation.
An advanced class for students who have previously completed Intermediate Drawing & Painting, or have a mature level of interest in learning new art skills. This class changes every year, so students from Art Studio last year are welcome to enroll again. There will be no repeat projects from last year. The Art Studio class this year will incorporate art history and appreciation along with learning technique. We will start out the year by studying a female American artist named Mary Cassatt, who frequently painted mothers with their children. We will also study Vincent Van Gogh and Salvador Dahli. As we learn about these various artists, we will complete projects that are similar to each of the artists style and technique. We will also have a break from painting in the mid-year, and do a unit on lettering. Students will use pencil, colored pencil, and marker to create fun fonts and do some creative projects with words. A supply list will be available at orientation.
Teen Art Studio -Mrs. Michaels

An advanced art class for teens. The Teen Art Studio classthis year will incorporate art history & appreciation along with learning technique. This class is similar to the Art Studio class, but geared towards students ages 13 and up, and therefore projects will be somewhat different and more challenging. There will be no repeat projects from last year, so students are encouraged to re-enroll in this class. Students will begin the year with a unit on drawing portraits. We will then be studying a new group of artists this year including, Mary Cassatt, Vincent Van Gogh, and a current Christian artist named Ron DiCianni. As we study these artists, we will be completing acrylic paintings on canvas. A supply list will be available at orientation.
Beginning and advanced students will be combined in this course. Beginning students start with basic beading techniques, stringing styles, and clasps. Seed beading, ethnic and multi-strand will be covered. Students later learn to work with basic hand tools to make chains and links, with the introduction of chain mail. Students will make a final piece, using cold links (without solder) and a pendant. Tools necessary are beads of the student's choosing, small lengths of string materials, round nose pliers, flat nose pliers, wire, and goggles. Some of the items will be available through the instructor.
Wood Sculpting A, B, & C -Mr. Guge SESSIONS A & B ARE FULL BUT C STILL HAS ROOM

Tuition: $6.00 per class
Students will complete 3-dimentional wood sculptures from start to finish including design, drawing, wood carving, wood burning, and hand painting. Projects may include: fish, birds, mammals, and other items of student interest. Students will need to purchase their own Dremel tool (approx. $25. Details available at orientation). The $20 Teacher Supply Fee includes wood and paint for 3 sculptures. If time allows for additional sculptures to be completed, there may be an additional $5 charge per sculpture.
