Note: The Student Supply Fee is the estimated cost that a student will spend to purchase their own necessary supplies for the class for the year. The Teacher Supply Fee is the cost of supplies that the teacher will provide for the student generally at the beginning of the year.
Student Supply Fee: none & Teacher Supply Fee: about $5-10
Tuition: $6 per class
Students will learn how to generate ideas, organize their thoughts, edit their work, and write compelling news articles. Operating as a news team, the children will take assignments and contribute one or more articles to a homeschooling newspaper (to be named by the students). The newspaper will be distributed to GIFT families twice during the year. Students enrolling in this class should have a natural love of writing and a good understanding of grammar, punctuation, sentence structure and paragraphs. This will be a fun, team effort where students will get the opportunity to write about subjects they love.
Note to parents: Toward the end of each semester, I would like to have a few laptops available for classroom use. If your student can bring a laptop that can be shared (for typing articles) please have him/her bring it to class. Outlets will be made available and laptops will be taken home at the end of class. Also, there will be a small printing cost for the newspaper. This cost will be dependent on the number of students enrolled, the number of pages produced, and the number of copies needed (one for each GIFT family). As soon as these variables are plugged in (this September), I will calculate the exact cost. Thank you for your patience. -Mrs. Dell'Aringa
